Once primarily a mutual fund provider, Fidelity Investments is now a full-service broker, providing online, phone and branch services for trading stocks, mutual funds, options, and bonds.
Account types include taxable brokerage accounts, individual retirement accounts (IRA's), education accounts (529), and cash management accounts.

Have used Fidelity for years and right now I have all my IRA in Fidelity. It has pretty friendly interface for stock trades and mutual fund purchase. One feature I like most is that you can set the automatic investment which saves me a lot of time and hassles. Also, Fidelity has the very convenient customer service branch. The staffs there are professional and friendly as well. I would recommend Fidelity compared with other discount brokers out there.

I started with Fidelity with just an IRA 8 years ago. Now I'm a fairly active trader. As I've added accounts and become a more sophisticated investor, Fidelity has had everything I've needed. Now I manage my day to day cash including bill payment, trade options and stocks, and I can even keep up with my mother's account. The site is a one-stop shop for me to manage my finances.
Commissions are pretty low. You can find lower, but I don't think the lower commission brokers have Fidelity's level of superior phone service and fast trade execution.

Fidelity is a great company, with lots of good products. However, their regular investment management tools (not the Active Trader offering) are behind the times and, at this point, inadequate to the task. Their data is slow, as compared to other brokers, their servers jam frequently when the market is running somewhat (like early in a busy day) and getting in and out od stocks is cumbersome at best, not to mention expensive.

And I must say that Fidelity is pretty helpful place to start. I've purchased CDs in my account for a while and only recently began placing a few stock trades. I really like the way that the Fidelity research is at your fingertips and I think it's very clear what the cost basis of each position is.

I have never had a problem with them. I can call a broker any time. They are exceptionally patient and don't try and get you off the phone. They took complete care of rolling over my 401K into an IRA.
The online trading platform that they have Active Trader is REALLY great. I love it!
I transfer money to and from my bank account with a lot of ease.
I could use them as a bank if I wanted to.

I have been with Fidelity for over 20 years. They have been solid and have always kept up with the latest technology.
I have tried Schwab, Ameritrade, ETrade and others and always come back to Fidelity.

With my limited experience with Fidelity, they have certainly fulfilled my expectations. Never had any issues with my online experience! I chose Fidelity because of their reputation, and it has not let me down.

Overall I would say that the on-line availability and support is far above local brokers. I utilized a local broker for a long time and then shifted to the on-line version of Fidelity for my 401k. Never looked back! Excellent response time to questions as well as the company provides a great deal of help and support for new investors.

I do really like their platform and whenever there is any problem they have great customer service. Other than that transfers sometimes take a little two long but that could also be my bank and one big problem is that accounts are updated once a day which is rather annoying and this is only on the main portfolio page not in the accounts

Fidelity's Active Trading Department is somewhat efficient. Unfortunately, they are not available after 5:00 pm EST. This has created some problems for me as I am in California, so I often would like to speak with them in the California afternoon, but they are not there.
They have made several mistakes over the years which caused me various problems. Also, when they make a mistake, it takes a day or two to get it corrected, so I am barred from trading online until the account is corrected, even though it is there mistake.
One last concern is that they do not keep the account history on the web for over a year, so if one is lax is transferring the information for tax purposes, you will find yourself inputting a lot of information instead of just copying and pasting.
