I'm new to stock market, my friend told me about Firstrade, so i open an account. I got 5 free trades from their promotion. The experience with Firstrade has been great(at least their trading platform is easy to use.) I'm Chinese, which they also offer 24 hours customer service(In Chinese only), which i don't think any other brokerage offer it. It seems hard for me to find information about individual stock, but over all i will give them an B+

Easy platform. Basic web design is fast on mobile internet. No issues the first few months but their system crashed twice this week at very inopportune times.
Takes a long time to get someone on the phone, and when you do, their accents make it difficult to understand. Broker assisted only on limited after hours trading, and no before hours trading. They really need to work on this.

had these guys for a few years. firstrade is great. zecco sucked me in with the few trades every month. then they stopped that. either way, zecco is SHADY. they never knew what was going on when i called.. i ACH'd some money to them, tried trading with it 6 days later... NOPE. called, was told wait another day.. tried again after 10 days.. NO! i had done this same bank transfer many times, but for some reason, they wouldnt let me trade with it for a full 15 days! and absolutely nobody had a clue when i called. and this same thing happenned when i sold once.. wouldnt let me withdraw for weeks! they acted like this was normal, but its not.. FIRSTRADE IS GREAT, LOVE THEM. STAY AWAY FROM ZECCO. needless to say, im back at firstrade.

I am an individual investor and moved my account from Scottrade to Firstrade about 2 years ago. I read in the AAII Magazine that Firstrade offered investment opportunities in more Mutual funds than other online brokers. I think this is true but for reasons i don't understand some funds are not covered on the "Real time quotes" system. For reasons i don't remember, i decided to try Etrade and placed an IRA and bought a natural gas fund online. Last month i decided to transfer everything to Firstrade mainly because of the fees being charged by Etrade. I'm having trouble transferring the IRA to Firstrade and really don't know why since i believe i have sent in all necessary paperwork. Etrade charged a $60.00 transfer fee for my natural gas fund. That totals $120.00 they have charged in the passed month. To sum up i am thinking of moving everything back to Scottrade.
